Homemade Spiced Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 1 large mug of milk of your choice (oat, almond, dairy, etc.)

  • 1 heaped tsp raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 drop of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, cacao powder, cinnamon and ginger.

  2. Heat gently over medium heat, whisking continuously to ensure the spices and cacao dissolve into the milk.

  3. As the mixture warms, stir in the honey or maple syrup and the vanilla extract.

  4. Continue whisking until the hot chocolate is steaming and smooth (do not let it boil).

  5. Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy!
